What's new in Web-based Workflow Designer

The DocuWare Workflow Designer has been completely revamped, featuring a modern interface and enhanced functionality.

The new designer is now HTML-based, aligning with the rest of the DocuWare components, and can be accessed directly from DocuWare Configuration. This is why the new Workflow Designer is refered to as the Web-based Workflow Designer.

As a web application, the new Workflow Designer no longer requires installation on a specific machine. Workflow Designer is now accessible from any device, offering greater flexibility and convenience.

The user interface of the Web-based Workflow Designer has also undergone a redesign. Explore the list below to discover the new features, changes, and removed functionalities compared to the previous Workflow Designer.

The core concept of DocuWare Workflow Manager remains the same, ensuring a seamless experience for users completing tasks.

New in Web-based Workflow Designer

  • Assigning the decision maker directly in the task: Have a clear picture who will perform the task.

  • Conditional output in every action: You may set different scenarios for each output - all in one go, instead of chaining separate conditions.

  • Auto-saving: Progress in workflow configuration is saved automatically to prevent data loss.

  • Undo/Redo trace all changes made by a user: It is used to go back and forward a change made by user.

  • Select or multiselect actions on the new canvas to copy, paste, duplicate, and delete.

  • Use keyboard shortcuts to fasten up work - see a list of shortcuts.

  • Hide and show connectors: For a better overview, highlight specific connectors, such as regular, error, or timeout connectors.

  • Customize error handling: Configure how workflows respond to unexpected interruptions. Once set, the workflow will automatically move to a specific step or start or end the workflow.

  • Export selected workflows: Export single or multiple selected workflows instead of all.

  • Changed wording: Activities are now referred to as actions, and arithmetic expressions as expressions.

  • Action and Delay: Workflow items are grouped under two categories:

    • Action: Includes Task, Parallel Task, Assign Data, Condition, Send email, Web service.

    • Delay: Includes Time Delay and Wait for Event.

  • Assign to: This functionality has been changed to the option Decision maker, as you can assign decision makers directly to a task.
