Dialogs are the interface between users and the file cabinet. They are composed of the file cabinet's database fields, which contain the index data of the documents. A dialog determines which of these fields users see and how they are arranged for a specific task.
There are dialogs for storing, searching, and displaying results. For a new file cabinet, DocuWare automatically creates one dialog of each type. The dialog types are described in the following sections.
Here you see all dialogs that you have created or that are assigned to you as a user. Create new dialogs with the plus symbol. When you copy a dialog, all settings are transferred except the user rights.
A new dialog must be assigned to users with the Users icon before they can use it.
New DocuWare Client: what has changed
In the new DocuWare Client, introduced with DocuWare 7.15, only the file cabinet permissions decide which documents users can see. If you hide fields in a search dialog, users with access to a document can still find it by its index values. The search works directly on the file cabinet and ignores visibility settings in dialogs. Confidential information is therefore protected through file cabinet and document permissions, not by hiding dialog fields.
