The Security area of the new DocuWare client holds the security settings of your own user account: two-step verification, your password, and the configurations and applications that log in with your account. The Security area is located in the menu.
Security at organization level, for example whether two-step verification is available and which passwords are accepted, is set by an administrator in the security settings of the organization.
Supported versions: DocuWare Cloud + new DocuWare client only

Coming from the classic DocuWare client?
In the classic client, open the new DocuWare client with the link Open new DocuWare. Nothing has to be set up again. If you know the Security tab from there, these are the differences.
Security was a tab in the Profile and Settings section of the classic client. It is now a separate area in the user menu, with the same four sections.
The new DocuWare client is available in DocuWare Cloud for now. On-premises systems continue to work with the classic client.
More about All current limitations of the new DocuWare client
Two-step verification
Two-step verification asks for two independent proofs of identity when you log in to DocuWare:
You enter your usual DocuWare user name and password.
You confirm the login with a six-digit code from your authenticator app.
DocuWare grants access only after both have been confirmed. A stolen password alone is therefore not enough to log in with your account.
What you can do here
What the section offers depends on the security settings of your organization:
Two-step verification is not enabled for your organization. The section is not shown, and you cannot activate it.
Two-step verification is enabled for your organization. You can activate it for your account and deactivate it again.
Two-step verification is enforced for your organization, but your account is excluded. You can activate and deactivate it.
Two-step verification is enforced for your account. You had to set it up before you could log in at all. Here you can set it up again, for example after changing your phone or your authenticator app.
Activating two-step verification
You need an authenticator app on your mobile phone that supports time-based one-time passwords. If you are unsure which one to use, ask your IT department.
Install the authenticator app on your phone.
In the new DocuWare client, open the user menu and select Security.
Select Activate. A new browser window opens and shows a QR code.
Open the authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code. The app creates an entry for DocuWare.
The app now generates a new six-digit code every 30 seconds. If a new code appears while you are typing, the previous one stays valid for a short while.
Enter the code in the browser window and select Verify.
A success message appears and you are logged off automatically.
From your next login on, DocuWare asks for your user name and password first, and then for the six-digit code from your authenticator app.
If you lose your phone
Without your authenticator app you cannot log in to DocuWare. Contact your DocuWare administrator. Depending on the security settings of your organization, the administrator can either switch two-step verification off for your account, so that you log in with your user name and password, or start it again, so that you can set it up with another phone.
Password
Select Change Password to set a new password. You need your current password to create a new one.
Configurations using your account
Automated jobs such as workflows and notifications run with a DocuWare user account and inherit that user's permissions. This list shows the jobs that run with yours, with the name of the job and its type.
Use it to check for jobs you do not know about. Removing your account from a job stops that job at once.
Important: you cannot start the job again from here
Once you have removed your account from a job, the job cannot be restarted in Security. It has to be started again in the module it belongs to, in DocuWare Configurations.
Applications using your account
DocuWare applications need a user account to log in, and they ask for your credentials the first time you start them. This list shows the applications you are logged in to with your account, so you can see where your account is in use and end access you no longer want.
For security reasons these applications ask for your credentials again when they have not been used for 31 days:
Desktop Apps, including DocuWare Printer, Import, Scanner, SmartConnect, Edit & Send, Connect to Outlook, Windows Explorer Client, and Workflow Designer
Export
User synchronization
Local Data Connector
Make Connector
Power Automate Connector
Mobile applications
Connect to Outlook, the Windows Explorer Client, and the Workflow Designer ask again after 90 days in any case.
If you remove access, or if it expires on its own, the application can still work with your account for up to an hour. After that it shows a login screen and the credentials have to be entered again.
Notes for administrators
As on the classic client, the personal security settings of a user are based on the general security settings for an organization, see DocuWare Configurations > Security. Nothing needs to be set up again.
A job whose user account was removed in this area is restarted in the module it belongs to, in DocuWare Configurations, not by the user.
