In Profile & Preferences you set how the DocuWare client looks and behaves for you: which design you work in, how the interface is colored, your name and email address, your out of office status, and the language and formats you see. The settings belong to your user profile, so they follow you to every device you log in from.
This article describes the settings in the new DocuWare client. Open the user menu with the three-dot icon and select Profile & Preferences. Changes take effect when you select Save changes, on every section of the page.

Coming from the classic DocuWare client?
In the classic client, open the new DocuWare client with the link Open new DocuWare. Your settings are the same as in classic DocuWare, so nothing has to be set up again. These are the differences.
Profile and Settings is now Profile & Preferences, one scrolling page instead of tabs. Your password and the access of other applications have moved into their own security area.
Under Appearance you decide whether DocuWare is light, dark, or follows your browser default. The classic client has no such setting.
You define the following settings still in the classic DocuWare client for now. They apply in the new DocuWare client as well.

The new DocuWare client is available in DocuWare Cloud for now. On-premises systems continue to work with the classic client.

Default design
Show new DocuWare: Decides which design you land in. Switched on, you work in the new DocuWare design. Switched off, all DocuWare features are shown in the classic design. With the option switched on, you can still go back with Menu > Back to classic DocuWare.
Whether you can change this at all depends on your organization. If you do not see the setting, that choice was made for your organization.
Appearance
Choose how the interface is colored: Light, Dark, or System.
System follows your browser default, so DocuWare changes with it. Light and Dark keep DocuWare in that appearance whatever your browser uses.
Personal information
Email: Your email address. It is required, because DocuWare uses it to reach you, for example for workflow notifications and for resetting your password.
First name and Last name: Your name as colleagues see it in DocuWare, for example on stamps, annotations, and in task histories.
Out of office
Enable out of office: Marks you as out of the office, so that your workflow tasks can be forwarded to another DocuWare user automatically while you are away. Who takes over follows the substitution rules of your organization.
Regional settings
The settings here decide the language you read DocuWare in, and how dates and numbers are written.
Language: The language of the DocuWare interface. A new language takes effect when you select Save changes, and the client reloads.
Date and number format: The regional format used for dates, times, and numbers. It is separate from the language, so you can read DocuWare in English while keeping the date and number format you are used to.
Date and time preview and Number preview: Show how a date and a number will look in the format you selected, before you save.
Language and formats belong to your user profile, not to one client. What you set here also applies in classic DocuWare, and a change you make there is picked up here.
Notes for administrators
As in the classic client, the profile settings are available to every user of the new DocuWare client out of the box. Appearance, personal information, out of office, and the regional settings all belong to the individual user profile.
Whether the Show new DocuWare setting appears at all is defined in DocuWare Configurations > Organization settings. It can leave the choice to users, set one design as the default, or allow the new design only.
The visibility of document trays, store dialogs, search dialogs, result lists, and forms, and a user's default document tray, are set in the classic Profile and Settings and apply in both clients.
