DocuWare for Outlook: clip emails or store them separately

Prev Next

With the latest update of the DocuWare add-in for Microsoft Outlook, you can now decide how an email and its attachments are archived: either as separate documents or clipped together in one file. If you choose clipping, you can also define the sequence—for instance, show the attached invoice first and the email text afterward so that the most relevant information appears up front.

In the new Separation section, you can specify how the selected email elements, email body, and attachments are stored in DocuWare: as individual files (left) or as a clipped document (right).

When you archive an email and its attachments individually, the store dialog now displays a live counter of the files being processed, along with the status of each one. Individual attachments can be skipped on the fly without closing the window.

Skip a document during processing—handy, for instance, if you discover in the store dialog preview that it isn’t relevant.

Attached e-invoices in PDF or XML format can also be captured automatically. Simply embed a document-processing configuration for e-invoicing and all the e-invoice metadata will be prefilled automatically in your store dialog.

The updated add-in has been available since the end of June. DocuWare Cloud users receive the new version automatically—no manual update is required. You’ll also see in-app notifications highlighting all newly released features the first time you open the latest version.
