Text and barcode-recognition - introduction

Prev Next

Text Recognition (Optical Character Recognition, OCR) is used to read text and/or numbers from documents or applications that are available as graphics, for example from scanned documents. In a Text Recognition template, for example, you can adjust settings for quality and the language of the text.

With Barcode Recognition (Optical Barcode Recognition, OBR) you can read all common types of barcodes, for example barcodes for the numbers of accounts payable. The templates and settings for Barcode Recognition are available from DocuWare version 7.3.

You can specify the settings for Text and Barcode Recognition in individual templates.

Requirements

To be able to create templates for Text and Barcode Recognition, you need the Text and Barcode Recognition right, which can be assigned in DocuWare Administration under Users/Profiles > Function settings. If you wish to set up Text and Barcode Recognition templates not only for yourself, but also for other DocuWare users, you also need the User Administration right, which can be assigned in the same section. To edit existing Text Recognition templates you also need administrator rights for the templates in question (see Permissions).
