# Displaying XML invoices

In order to conveniently process electronic invoices in XML format, the DocuWare Viewer displays them in an easy-to-read version similar to a PDF invoice. For this purpose, style sheets are used, which are published by the issuers of the national standards – mostly state authorities or organizations. These style sheets are regularly revised and new versions are published.

> Changes in the new version of a style sheet can also affect the display of XML invoices in DocuWare. This means that annotations or stamps may be found in different positions than in an earlier style sheet version.

**Examples of style sheets**

DocuWare uses, for example:

- the style sheet linked [here](https://github.com/itplr-kosit/xrechnung-visualization) for the European format variant EN 16931. It is issued by the German Koordinierungsstelle für IT-Standards (KoSIT). As only the German KoSIT office has published a style sheet for the European standard EN 16931, invoices in this format can only be displayed with German labels.
